Remove cistern push button
Friday, April 18th, 2025In order to access the interior of a typical toilet cistern, you need to remove the push button on top, in order to remove the cistern lid. Unscrew the button ring anti-clockwise (you may need a wrench if the assembly is encrusted with limescale). The button assembly screws into the plastic flush rod inside, not into the ceramic lid.
To replace the button, with the cistern full of water and the button depressed, screw the end of the button assembly into the corresponding hole in the flush rod. Tighten.
