In order to access the interior of a typical toilet cistern, you need to remove the push button on top, in order to remove the cistern lid. Unscrew the button ring anti-clockwise (you may need a wrench if the assembly is encrusted with limescale). The button assembly screws into the plastic flush rod inside, not into the ceramic lid.

To replace the button, with the cistern full of water and the button depressed, screw the end of the button assembly into the corresponding hole in the flush rod. Tighten.

Just buy LED bulbs from now on. They can replace any remaining Halogen or Fluorescent as they die.

The studio bulbs are cool, 4000K; the kitchen warm, 2700K.

The utility room bulbs are now museum piece LEDs.

Still a problem with the two stairway bulbs. They have to be incandescent because of the incorrect wiring.

Any snow flake symbol means that the A/C unit will run in Cold mode (ie throw out cool air). It does not mean that it is wintertime.

This means that the air con will run in Heat mode in Reverse Cycle machines. It does not mean that it is summertime.

Any symbol showing water means the air con is in Dry mode, a function that removes unpleasant humidity from the ambient air, while still throwing out cold air. It does not mean that it is adding moisture.

A fan symbol means that the air conditioner is in Ventilation mode; it will work like a fan only, and throw out neither warm or cool air, just ambient air. It does not mean the fan speed.

What temperature do you want?

Yet another oven had an inaccurate oven temperature control (in Celsius). So I calibrated it with the Cooper’s oven thermometer shown and made this calculator. It tells you what to set to get a particular temperature (Fahrenheit, Celsius and Gas Mark) and vice versa. And it converts between the three temperature scales.
